I totally hate the new look. I’m addicted to the game, but I may stop playing it.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I sort of like the new look, but since this is actually the second time I’ve heard this complaint, the next version of Toobz has a ‘Classic Graphics’ option which re-enables old school Toobz! I hope this news will keep you playing until it’s released. I’m planning on submitting it this week, so expect it sometime the following week!

Are the components cycled in a completely random manner, or is there some AI logic at work? It sure seems that the item I need never pops up until I don’t need it.

Hi Jim!
Yep, as much as I’d love to take credit for adding in some AI to mess with people, the toobz that come up are truly random.
I’ve had the same experience, though… sometimes the absolute worst piece comes up over and over. Hang in there, though — eventually you’ll get the right piece!

Hey, it does say anywhere in toobz free what the reqirements are to advnce levels. I know I can’t make a board with just a stop, but I’ve made pretty complex board with no leaks in the upper levels, only to have it tell me game over. What gives? Can you make it clear somewhere?also, give a score rundown screen between levels. This was you lr score, these were your penalties, these were your bonuses.

Hi Alex,
Sorry that it’s not clear, I’ll improve that with Toobz-Free’s next release. Toobz-Free caps the number of levels at 5. Once you’ve played your fifth board, the game is over regardless of whether or not you spilled any water. The idea behind it is to give people an intro to how Toobz plays, but then also make it a challenge to see just how high of a score you can get in those five levels.
The fun part will be comparing your Toobz-Free score with other people. At the very least I’ll add some sort of Twitter component to Toobz-Free just like Toobz now has. In the future I’ll add real online high scores.
The scoring summary is something I’d like to do, too. I’ve always thought that I should be including more information with your saved high scores, including the details of scoring. I like stats, so be prepared with a whole lot of meta data (# tiles replaced, # open squares, # unused tiles, etc…).
Thanks for the comment and thanks for playing Toobz!
