Toobz-Free 1.3 Released

A lot of you already know this, but yesterday Toobz-Free was approved and found its way to the App Store!  It was great to see that we had an approval after just a week — hopefully we’re back on that schedule.

I’ve had a report of two minor bugs which probably affect Toobz in addition to Toobz-Free.  The more annoying of the two is if you hit the ’start water’ button right as the timer reaches 0:00.  The water will never start and you’ll be stuck being able to drop in any Toobz that you want without any water.  At that point you’ll need to reset the game (tap the ‘Info’ button).

The other bug is if you have water spill when the timer is blinking red.  The next game will start with a red blinking timer, even though you’re not under 10 seconds yet.  Luckily that goes away if you advance to the next level.

I’ll get these bugs fixed and submitted as soon as I can, and see what else I can drop into the release, as well.

Thanks for playing Toobz!

Interview with appbite

The folks at appbite.com were kind enough to put Off Center Software into their new Developer Spotlight!  I enjoyed answering their questions and I’m honored to be their first spotlight.

No updates for Toobz yet… still waiting for our latest version to be approved and I’m still hard at work on the next version.  As soon as I have more news I’ll post them here first!

appbite Review

Happened across another review of Toobz today, this time on appbite.  Pretty positive review, I appreciate the suggestions… I’m always on the lookout for gameplay tweaks and ideas.

Thanks to appbite for the review!

Another Toobz Review

I should group these together, I suppose.  Further down on the Twitter search was this review.  Not as positive as the previous one, but I appreciate it nonetheless.  Thanks, Travis, for taking the time to review Toobz — I hope with some upcoming releases we’ll win you back and get you interested in the paid version :)   That’s why we have the -Free version, though — try before you buy!

Thanks again!

Toobz Review

Did a search on Twitter today for any Toobz related tweets.  Found a good number of tweets which is really cool to see.  Also saw a new iPhone review site that recently started and Toobz was one of its initial reviews!  My thanks to Bryan for taking the time to review Toobz!

Toobz 1.2

Toobz and our free version, Toobz-Free, have been upgraded to version 1.2 in the past few weeks. Version 1.2 has a couple bug fixes, but most noticeably it includes all new graphics, including a new icon. We thought we’d spice up the look of Toobz a bit and we hope you like it.

As with all new things, though… not everyone is a fan. Two comments were left in the App Store wanting the old graphics back… ask and you shall receive! We’ve got a version of Toobz that has a “classic graphics” option that is just about ready to be submitted for approval. Look for it in the next couple of weeks.

Enjoy!

Toobz-Free Version 1.1

Hi folks,

Quick note to let you know that the upgraded version of Toobz-Free is now in the App Store. Enjoy!

Version 1.1 Approved!

Well that was fairly quick! Loyal Toobz players should be seeing the version 1.1 upgrade now in the App Store. We hope you enjoy the new features!

The updated version of Toobz-Free will be coming soon.

Version 1.1 Submitted!

Hi folks,

A quick note to let you all know that we’ve just submitted version 1.1 of Toobz to Apple for review.  A couple new features and some bug fixes/improvements.

The first major new feature is a new game mode… something we’re calling “Show Toobz”.  This game mode will show the next four pieces that are to be placed instead of only the next one.  This has been an oft-requested feature and we’re glad to oblige and drop in the new game mode.  It should allow for more planning — but don’t get caught planning too much! :)

The second new features is a free play difficulty setting.  This mode basically shuts off the timer so you can take your time, build extravagent, full-coverage Toobz layouts.  It’s for the most casual of casual gamers.

Hopefully we’ll have the update out in the next week or so.  Enjoy!

By the way…

I thought I’d write up a quick post in response to some of the reviews left for Toobz and Toobz-Free…

First of all, it may not be obvious, but it’s OK to let water run out the sides of the screen.  Just like the loading screen shows — you don’t always need to have your water end up in a “stopper.”  In fact… a quick tip is anytime you get a cross (+) that doesn’t fit very well, throw it into one of the four corner spots.

Second — there’s no rotating of the toobz… we initially had rotation, but it almost made things too easy.

Third — you can replace toobz pieces you’ve already placed, except in the ‘Hard’ game setting.  So… if you keep getting the same piece over and over and it just doesn’t fit into your plan, just keep tapping the same square and replace it.

Finally… we promise that the choice of the next Toobz piece is completely random! :-)   It might not seem like it sometimes, but believe us… it’s as random as computers can get.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!
