By the way…

I thought I’d write up a quick post in response to some of the reviews left for Toobz and Toobz-Free…

First of all, it may not be obvious, but it’s OK to let water run out the sides of the screen.  Just like the loading screen shows — you don’t always need to have your water end up in a “stopper.”  In fact… a quick tip is anytime you get a cross (+) that doesn’t fit very well, throw it into one of the four corner spots.

Second — there’s no rotating of the toobz… we initially had rotation, but it almost made things too easy.

Third — you can replace toobz pieces you’ve already placed, except in the ‘Hard’ game setting.  So… if you keep getting the same piece over and over and it just doesn’t fit into your plan, just keep tapping the same square and replace it.

Finally… we promise that the choice of the next Toobz piece is completely random! :-)   It might not seem like it sometimes, but believe us… it’s as random as computers can get.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!

Thank You!

Sorry, it’s been a while since we’ve had an update. Just wanted to say a quick thank you to all of those who downloaded Toobz-Free and kept us in the top 100 free games for over a week. I hope everyone continues to enjoy Toobz as much as we enjoyed making it.

And thank you for all the comments that have been coming in.  We’re listening to your feedback and hope to have an update to Toobz coming soon.

In the meantime… keep laying down those toobz!

Free Demo Submitted

A quick note for Toobz fans… now it’s even easier to convince your friends to try Toobz!  We’ve just submitted a free version of Toobz to the App Store for review.  The only limitations of this version are no high scores are saved, and you can only advance up to level four.  As soon as it’s accepted we’ll post a link.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Toobz Video

Here’s some video of a quick game of Toobz in the iPhone simulator.

As you can see by the hesitation in the movement of my mouse, it takes some thinking when a piece pops up that you’re not ready for. At the end of the video you’ll see the options for difficulty, the inline help text, and the top-ten list for your scores.

App Store Link

Here’s a direct link to Toobz.

Approved!

Well that happened quicker than I thought.  Just heard from Apple that our game Toobz has been approved and will be available on November 5th.

Screenshots and App Store links to come!

Submitted!

I just submitted our first application to the App Store and now begins the wait.  I not only have to wait for the application to be accepted, but I also need to finalize the standard distribution contract.  I’m hoping both of these things go quickly… I’ve heard app approvals are ranging from 3 – 5 days on average.

Our first app is called “Toobz”.  It’s version of the classic water pipes game in which you need to create a system of pipes which allows water to flow without spilling.  This first version of the game contains one style of the game — where you need to place random pieces, without rotation, onto a game board as a timer slowly counts down to the start of the water.  I picked this version of the game because it was a quick game to pick up, wasn’t too heavy on thought to cause frustration, and I think overall it’s a fun way to start things off.  I’m hoping to add other gameplay options in the future.

That’s it for now.  I’ll post some screenshots soon.  And of course, as soon as I get an App store link I’ll put that up, too!
